Living Your Strengths:

An Introduction
Who? Living Your Strengths really is for
you! Experiencing Living Your Strengths could change your life.
It will certainly give you a clearer understanding of yourself and of
others, of how uniquely we are created by God and how we can become
stronger as individuals and as a community by learning to live our
God-given strengths. This is open to adults and is age appropriate for
youth (teenagers, high schoolers, collegiate).
What? Living Your Strengths is a process and
a book. When you purchase a Living Your Strengths book, one of
the first things you will do is to spend a half hour of quiet personal
time with the Clifton StrengthsFinder, an online questionnaire. When you
have finished the StrengthsFinder, you will receive a list of your Top 5
themes of strength, or talent. The Living Your Strengths book includes
descriptions of each of the strengths, passages of scripture to pray
with, things in your life to reflect on, and ways to use your strengths
in ministry or service.
At Immaculate Heart of Mary, we are encouraging
everyone to participate in a Living Your Strengths workshop or to do the
StrengthsFinder and to use a booklet we have prepared to help you
reflect on the ways in which you experience God’s grace through your
strengths. There is a specially designed process for those who cannot or
who prefer not to explore their strengths in a group.
When? During
the season of Lent, you can experience Living Your Strengths
with others with Four 90 minute meetings during the month of March
beginning March 5:
Choose the Series That Works Best for You
Mondays of March, 7 p.m.
Wednesdays of March, 7 p.m.
Tuesdays of March, 3:30 p.m.
Thursdays* of March, 12:30 p.m.
*babysitting available for Thursday session; call 388-418
in advance to reserve babysitting
You will be warmly welcomed by a group facilitator who will lead you
through the group process and answer any questions you might have.
Where? Here! The group sessions will
take place in Heritage Hall West.
How? Buy a book today to get started.
Books will be available after Masses on the weekends of Feb. 3-4, Feb.
10-11, and Feb. 17-18. Buy your book at IHM for a reduced price of $16;
the list price for the book is $24.95. Once you have purchased your
book, read only the first chapter, and then set aside 30 minutes of
quiet time to complete the online questionnaire. Once you have your list
of Top 5 Signature themes, you may read the descriptions that apply to
you. You’ll then be prepared for our first small group session. We will
have times when people may come to the Formation office to use a
computer if needed. After you do the StrengthsFinder, email your list of
Top 5 strengths to
Leisaa@ihom.org, or call the Formation office at 388.4093,
preferably by Feb. 28. Then, you’re ready for a group, or to reflect on
your own.
Anything else? Talk to your friends and
family. Invite them to do Living Your Strengths too, even if
they’re not parishioners or rarely come to Mass. This is a process that
could really make a difference in their lives.
