The focus of the parish Health Ministry Commission is on prevention/health promotion and the integration of the body, mind and spirit rather than “hands on” physical care. This ministry is not a substitute for medical care, community health nursing and social agencies, but rather works in collaborative partnership with these disciplines to offer educational opportunities, a communication network and resources to IHM parishioners. The Health Ministry Commission with the parish nurse integrates the caring programs that are already in place with new initiatives to create a holistic response.

Educational events focus on prevention of disease and injury, or screening and appropriate intervention in illness and brokenness. All activities are designed to foster well-being, regardless of whether the illness or injury is cured.

The mission of the commission is to involve the entire parish community in carrying out the healing ministry of Jesus through care of the whole person – mind, body and spirit.

Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Monday of every month, except June, July and August.
